FLORAL FOAM
When arranging with floral foam, try to position each stem
carefully and not remove and replace it, as this may cause an
air space that can interfere with water absorption by the stem.
With weak stems, you may make a starter hole with an ice pick
or other small object to prevent the stem from breaking.

ATTACHING FOAM TO CONTAINER
Attach floral foam
securely to the container using
waterproof tape, as shown.
Taping on the sides, rather than through the middle, will
interfere less with center placement of stems.
When taping foam to a container, run a piece of tape around the edge of the container to secure the tape ends.
You may also use
floral clay to attach anchor
pins to the bottom of the container.

When using pin holders, fine stems
may be positioned more readily by adding a little floral foam to
the needlepoint. Use a small piece of netting or old
stocking material beneath the floral foam to facilitate removal
of the foam when you disassemble the arrangement.
Prepare foam to extend 1 to 1 1/2 inches above the edge of the
container. This will facilitate adding material around the
outside to cover the rim of the container and the tape. |
