Shiny metal containers and bullion wires add glitz to this Christmas arrangement. After the holidays plant your dwarf conifers in the garden allowing room for their eventual mature size. These dwarf Alberta Spruce will reach 2-5 feet tall by 1-3 feet wide.

A Simple Spruce Forest
for your Holiday Buffet

This little forest of Dwarf Alberta Spruce dresses your mantel, your buffet, or your front porch and it's too easy to create.

Remove the small trees from their pots and place in sandwich bags.  press the rootball to make it narrow enough to fit the container, being careful not to tear the roots. Dwarf trees are the basis of this holiday floral arrangement for your buffet table or mantle

Place scraps of foam at bottom of container to correct height of trees.  Cover opening and plastic with decorative colored sisal.  Coordinate sisal color with the bullion wire you select to decorate the small trees.  These trees were drizzled with silver and apple green bullion wire.

Keep these trees watered, but do not over-water. They will be happier if kept outdoors when not being appreciated inside.

In the arrangement pictured, Karin has used Dwarf Alberta Spruce, Picea glauca 'Jean's Dilly'.  Each small tree is only 7 to 8 inches tall. She also used an Azar Galvanized Planter 12" x 4" x 8", on sale for $14.49; some Apple Green Sisal, Silver and Apple Green Bullion Wire.   Azar planters are available in two sizes -  one taller. The short 4"  Azar planter is sold out.

Galvanized containers in three sizes help you coordinate your indoor holiday decor.

Live trees will be happiest outdoors greeting your guests for the holidays.   Your spruce forest is happiest out of dry indoor air.  Greet your guests with this happy arrangement at your front door.  Then bring it inside to decorate a buffet table or your mantle for a few days before planting the little trees outside.
