VASES It is fun to collect and save vases, but a glass
milk bottle can also be a vase, as can a pitcher, a wine carafe,
a wine glass. A piece of PVC pipe, capped to retain water
can be a vase - several grouped together, or spray painted, can
begin an arrangement. |
KITCHENWARE Take another look at your casserole dishes
or maybe a soup tureen. An attractive mixing bowl or soup
bowl. With a waterproof lining, a colander would make an
interesting container for an arrangement to dress up your
kitchen. |

RUMMAGE AND GARAGE SALES
Now you have a reason to stop when you see that rummage sign.
What containers might be waiting there for you to fill them with
arrangements? Keep your mind open!
DESIGN DISHES
Inexpensive design dishes can be purchased that are designed
to hold a brick of floral foam, or 2/3 or 1/2 of a brick.
You can also use plastic salad containers from fast food
restaurants. When using these light materials, watch your
balance since they will be more likely to tip or spill. CANDLESTICKS and BOTTLES Candlesticks and wine bottles
can be turned into containers with the addition of an Oasis ®
O'Daptor, A plastic ring with a stem that
fits into the narrow opening and a cup to hold floral foam and
water.

FRUITS and VEGETABLES
Imagine individual arrangements for a dinner staged in a
hollowed out squash or a grapefruit rind. How about a
centerpiece of flowers spilling out of a
pumpkin? A miniature design can be staged in something as small as a half
of a walnut shell!
UGLY CONTAINERS
Even ugly but serviceable containers can be used. Wrap an
unattractive plastic box in raffia or aspidistra leaves, or glue
magnolia leaves to the outside with
floral adhesive. How about
surrounding the outside with fresh asparagus, tied with a
ribbon?
